The Ifa tradition (whether Lukumi or traditional West African) is full of Orisa stories or patakí that narrate the problems our ancestors faced in the past. More importantly, these stories lay out in detail the solution to said problems. We pay careful attention to patakí because it is said that everything in life has been done before and so, we will have the same victorious outcomes if we follow the instructions laid out in each patakí. Or, we face the disasters also described in said stories should we decide to ignore what they warn us about.
